If I wasn’t retired, it would be today that I would have to go back to work.
6:30 a.m. on a work day I would be in the shower. Today I am taking the dogs for a walk.
7:30 a.m. was my start time at work. Today I will read the paper while enjoying yet another cup of coffee. I might just read obituaries of people I don’t even know… just because I have the time.
8:00-11:00 – I would be distributing all the summer mail and getting the teacher boxes re-alphabetized with the new teacher’s names included. Today I will finish editing some pictures, or maybe work in the yard. I haven’t decided yet.
12:00 – I would be eating my brown bag lunch and wondering why I thought it sounded good when I packed it in the morning. Today I am making a FRESH chicken salad and watching a show on TV while I eat it.
1:00 I am getting my hair cut. I used to have to make my appointments at 4:30. I’ll let the working people have that time slot now!
After that I am going grocery shopping to get what I need to make a new recipe for dinner. I’ll have a glass of wine while I cook and contemplate how nice my day was.
Yes, today it feels real.
