A while back my niece Christy e-mailed me and asked if I would take some pictures of her with her dog, Tobie.  Tobie is 14 years old.  She was three when Christie rescued her.  She is really starting to slow down, and Christie doesn’t know how much more time she has left.  She wanted a nice picture for a lasting memory.

I was excited to take these pictures because I know what they will mean to her.  When Jennifer had to say goodbye to Opie she called and asked me if I still had the pictures of Opie I took a long time ago.  When Nicole just had to put Cody down, she asked me for the pictures I took at the beach four years ago.  In both cases I dug through my archives and found them.  I know the importance of these pictures.

Tobie can’t handle long car rides any more so I went to Woodland.  We had a hard time convincing her to get into the car to go the short distance to the park.  But once there, I think she enjoyed it.  When she got tired of walking she would just stop and sit until she was ready to try again.

I got a little teary editing these pictures.  Whether they’ve been with us a short time or a lifetime, pets make a huge impact on our lives, and saying goodbye is one of the hardest things we will have to do.

I’m glad I was able to give Christy some lasting memories.
