Saturday rain was predicted.  That surely would mean snow in the higher elevations, right?   Since we haven’t seen snow all season we decided to take a ride.

Kirkwood Ski Resort always gets more snow than anywhere else, so that was our destination.  I packed my new, NEVER used snow boots in the car and off we went.

The weather and scenery were beautiful and it didn’t start to rain until we were over an hour into the drive.  The closer we got to Kirkwood the less optimistic we were that the rain would turn to snow because the outside temperature was reading 34 degrees.

At the base of Kirkwood the rain did turn… to slush.  We didn’t even get out of the car.  But not all was lost.  We had a delicious sandwich and bloody Mary at the Kirkwood Inn & Saloon.

I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to play in the snow.
