Coloring books for adults are the rage right now… so I can finally come out of the closet. This is something I’ve been doing long before it became popular. Now I can buy adult coloring books instead of children’s.
Coloring brings us back to a simpler time. An activity that can invoke the easier and happier times of childhood. A time when we did not have as many responsibilities, and could just do something because we wanted too, for the pure joy of it. To be able to tap into this time and these emotions is very cathartic and enjoyable. It can take you out of your present stresses and worries for even a few hours at a time, which can have an exceptionally recuperative effect.
I also color on the computer. There are endless coloring pages you can upload for free. They are meant to be printed and colored with pencils, but I transfer it to Photoshop. I can choose from an endless choice of colors, and if I make a mistake or change my mind, I can erase that color and choose another. I can also easily enlarge the picture to make coloring those tiny spaces much easier.
This is a page I am coloring on my computer.
Go buy yourself a coloring book and pencils and for an hour or so every day let your brain forget everything else and just focus on what color to choose next. It’s as good as meditation!
