On one day of our Eastern Sierra trip we decided to ride the gondola to the top of Mammoth Mountain and hike down. It’s all down hill… how bad can it be, right??
Lots of trails to choose from. We picked the first one on the list, the Mammoth Mountain Trail.
Kari would NOT get on the gondola. I had to pick her up and carry her. She shook like a leaf the entire 7+ minute ride to the top.
The views on the ride up were incredible. I can’t believe I skied down the front of this mountain 40 years ago on our honeymoon.
Getting off the gondola.
At the top, elevation 11,053 feet.
Starting the hike. Hike and mountain bike trails are separated.
View of Twin Lakes, Lake Mary, ?? and ??? (There are lakes everywhere!)
Dave and Kari checking things out before starting the hike down, down, down.
To be continued…
