Yesterday we went to see Free Solo.  We had to go to Stockton because it was the closest place it was playing.

Free Solo is a documentary of rock climber Alex Honnold climbing El Capitan’s 3,000-foot vertical rock face in Yosemite National Park without safety equipment… just his two hands, two feet and an unbelievable focused mind.

It was beautiful cinematography of a seemingly impossible journey.  It was stressful and mesmerizing.  My palms were sweating even though I knew he completed this infamous climb successfully.

This is the meadow in front of El Capitan.  During climbing season there will always be people watching the climbers.  I wonder who was lucky enough to have been there when Alex Honnold was climbing… (he completed the free climb in just under four hours).

El Capitan.  Can you imagine climbing this without ropes?  (Or even with them???)

You just gotta go see Free Solo… on a BIG screen.  Your TV won’t do.
